Attendance and Absence

Attendance
At Ysgol Bro Llifon, we regard attendance and punctuality as very important aspects so as to enable your child/children to fully benefit from school life and education. It is important that the children arrive here before 9.00 in order to commence another exciting day punctually.

Absences
Of course, we appreciate that children are ill or unable to attend school for other reasons, occasionally. On such occasions, please:

• make a phone call to the school,
  
• email the school office: SwynMaelor@gwynedd.gov.uk neu
  
• please write a brief explanatory note for the absence.

We kindly ask parents not to withdraw children from school during term time to go on holiday if that can be avoided. The Governing Body of Ysgol Bro Llifon gives permission for parents to take their children from school to go on holiday for up to 10 days in a year. Before arranging holidays during a school week, parents should obtain the Headteacher's permission. This policy can be amended at short notice to comply with the Government's statutory regulations.

Parents of year 2-6 pupils are asked to ensure their children's attendance during the period when the National Tests are held (May).
When a pupil's irregular attendance gives cause for concern, the Educational Welfare Officer's support is sought. The Governing Body will notify the parents in writing of percentage of pupils authorized and unauthorized absences i.e. with or without a written explanation of absences, in the Annual Report to parents.
