Healthy School

Ysgol Bro Llifon is part of the Gwynedd and Anglesey Healthy Schools scheme and for the last two years 2018-2019 we have been working towards receiving the Healthy Schools Phase 5 award. In order to receive the award we had to work on two aspects namely Safety and the Environment.

Safety - Several activities were organized e.g. presentations by Gwynedd Council's Road Safety Officers, Kerbcraft training (safe crossing the road) to Year 1, safe cycling lessons to Year 6. Presentations were given by NSPCC officers, Don't Touch - Say, Show the red card Emergency and visits from PC Owen to discuss aspects such as drugs, safe play and people who help us. We also carried out a number of activities around Internet Safety and bullying and had regular fire drills.

Environment - The 'One person can change the world' theme throughout the school presented many opportunities for environment related activities eg look after our world and recycle. Some pupils went around the village of Groeslon collecting rubbish, visited Caergylchu, many pupils took part in a walk to school week, two 'Bug Hotels' were built nearby and everyone did their best for recycling and composting.

We were successful in receiving the Phase 5 award at the end of the Summer Term 2019 and we are now starting to seek the Stage 6 award which is the final stage. Phase 6 requires evidence to be gathered on three new aspects: Personal Development and Relationships, Use and Abuse of Substance and Hygiene.
